The Stock Asylum closes and donates archives to Stock Artists Alliance

Last September Rovtar migrated to a subscription based business where readers were asked to pay an annual subscription of $35.00 and Rovtar states that subscribers will be refunded an appropriate percentage of their initial subscription fee. Additionally, a few advertisers had purchased space beyond the April 6 ending date who will also be refunded an appropriate percentage.
SAA Executive Director Betsy Reid states, “Ron Rovtar, the voice behind The Stock Asylum, has served as an invaluable resource to stock industry professionals over the past four years. We will no doubt miss Ron’s intrepid reporting and keen analysis, urging photographers and distributors to think beyond the headlines and to challenge industry norms.”
“SAA has done an excellent job of bringing some order and balance to the stock photography industry during a difficult and often painful period,” said Rovtar. “I believe we soon will emerge from this period and that SAA will play a critical role in helping shape a new and stronger industry for the benefit of photographers, distributors and image users alike. I can only hope these archives will play a small part in this process. I thank SAA for keeping five years of work alive on the organization’s new website.”
