Photoshot opens NYC office and takes on Elevation Photos

UK-based Photoshot opened a New York office last October and has taken on representation of the "A-list" celebrity imagery collection of Elevation Photos, an agency recently launched in Santa Monica, California. Adding Elevation to its collections gives Photoshot material more marketable in the US market. The company has also sought to add North-American rights to the many collections it represents in the UK. Kris Hook, a ten-year veteran of Corbis Images, will run Photoshot’s New York office.
Photoshot was founded in 1999 by Charles Taylor, a former investment banker at Morgan Stanley. Colin Finlay, formerly of Getty Images, now co-manages the London operation as Director of Business Development. In addition to representing its own in-house collections, Photoshot Archive and Photoshot Creative, Photoshot also represents an impressive and varied roster of mostly news-related editorial image collections including Universal Pictorial and Press Agency (UPPA) which dates back to 1929 and is the photo archive of record in the UK for royalty, politicians and the judiciary, Starstock and Stay Still (both celebrity collections,) Talking Sport, World Illustrated (world cultures,) Mary Evans, NHPA (wild life and nature) and Photo Horticultural, among others.
Founder and President of Elevation, Mick Magsino, started the agency after working for Corbis Images, Image Direct and Getty Images where he spent over five years working with entertainment/corporate pr firms, studios, magazines and sponsors surrounding major festivals across the country.
