Pond5 launches micro-payment stock footage siteNew York based Pond5.com, a micro-payment stock footage community site, has announced that it has emerged from beta testing with the launch of version 1.0 of its website. The new site, located at pond5.com, offers more than 50,000 broadcast-quality SD and HD clips available for instant download, starting at $5 per clip. Prices on Pond5 are controlled by the contributors and start at just $5, with an average price of around $40 for HD footage, and $20 for SD footage.

HBO Sports releases footage for licensing through HBO ArchivesHBO Archives, the stock footage licensing division of HBO, has announced that it now has footage from HBO Sports available for licensing.  HBO Sports recently received eight Sports Emmy Awards this past April for such programs as “24/7,” with Emmy’s going to “Mayweather/Hatton 24/7” and one to “De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7.” Two Emmys went to the documentary, “Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush” and the magazine show “RealSports with Bryant Gumbel,” now in it’s 13th year, won an Emmy for Outstanding Sports Journalism.

iStockphoto introducing stock photography and footage subscriptions in May 2008Getty’s micropayment product, iStockphoto, the first and largest of the micro-payment sites with an image licensed every 1.4 seconds, has announced that it will be launching a subscription service to allow open access to photos, illustrations, and footage, for a period of 3, 6 or 12 months. The company is currently in private BETA testing of the new service and has declined to release information about the pricing and terms of the service except to say that Packages will start for as little as $96/month. Other companies offering similar subscription services include Shutterstock, SnapVillage and Stockxpert.

ITN Source provides footage for Rolling Stones and Joy Division films ITN Source has announced that it has contributed stock footage for two of this year’s biggest music feature films on two of the UK’s greatest bands - Joy Division and the Rolling Stones. Shine a Light, the critically acclaimed Rolling Stones documentary, directed by Martin Scorsese, features content from the ITN and Granada archives, both represented exclusively by ITN Source. The footage used in the film captures some of the legal clashes the Rolling Stones encountered in their career including Mick Jagger‘s drugs arrest in 1967, where he dismissed that he is an advocate of drug use. The film also includes archive content that captures the humorous side of Jagger who attended Keith Richard’s trial for the possession of drugs in 1977 and said to ITN “I never miss a case!”
