Category: PLUS Coalition

The Picture Licensing Universal System (PLUS Coalition) is a cooperative multi-industry initiative with the objective to clearly define and categorizes image usage around the world, from granting and acquiring licenses to tracking and managing them well into the future. Through standardized language and a machine-readable coding architecture, image licenses become more transparent, more fair, and much simpler for everyone. PLUS in no way addresses pricing or price negotiations. Nor will it create rigid forms or contracts. It is purely a system to define licensing language and provide a foundation for building and managing license data.

The photography community mourns the loss of Jane Kinne, who passed away early Saturday morning. Mrs. Kinne spent over fifty years as a photo agent, consultant to photographers and agencies, and an expert on copyright and other legal issues concerning images and image reproduction.  Along the way, she brought her boundless and positive energy to bear on the creation and management of several photo industry trade associations.  Most importantly, as a good friend and mentor, she gently but firmly coaxed from those of us lucky enough to know and work with her, an eagerness to bring our own positive energy to the business at hand.
