Framepool now representing footage from the National Film Board of Canada
Framepool, a stock footage licensing company based in Munich Germany, has announced that it has completed an agreement with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), Canada’s public film producer and distributor. The NFB produces and distributes innovative, socially relevant documentary, animation, alternative drama and digital media productions. In total, the NFB has produced over 13,000 productions which have won over 5,000 awards so far including 12 Oscars. “Our collection represents premium motion content in terms of quality, creativity and uniqueness. One can see that Framepool is run by filmmakers who are as passionate when it comes to films as we are at the NFB. That’s why we have partnered with Framepool,” explains Johanne St-Arnauld, Director General, Distribution, at the NFB.

Construction Photography offering time-lapse HD footage of London’s Olympic Park
London based Construction Photography, a stock agency specializing in construction photography and images of the built environment, has announced that it is documenting the construction of the new Olympic Park in Lea Valley, East London, with time-lapse photography of what has become the largest construction site in Europe. Construction Photography is documenting this process with High Definition (HD) cameras overlooking the site, benefiting from the highest viewpoint over the Park. The ground breaking Time Lapse system takes two images every minute from several angles and will continue documenting the activity until 2012 and during the Games.

ITN Source leveraging online video with Diagonal View production company
ITN Source, a leading provider of stock footage from the UK has announced that it has teamed up with Matt Heiman, founder Mobix Interactive and digital entrepreneur, to launch Diagonal View, a production business that packages quirky and obscure content from ITN Source’s vast archive and syndicates it to a range of commercial partners including MySpace, YouTube and MSN. ITN Source re-launches site featuring Rights-Ready licensing
ITN Source, a leading provider of stock footage from the UK has announced that it has re-launched its website, located at itnsource.com and featuring Clips On Demand, an archive of more than 500,000 clips with simplified Rights-Ready (RR) licensing. The company is claiming the this is ”the first time customers have been offered a full self service e-commerce model that offers transparency throughout the whole licensing process”. The RR licensing model was first introduced by Getty Images as a compromise between the ease of Royalty-Free (RF) and rights control of Rights-Managed licensing structures.

blinkx signs deal to publish editorial content from Getty Images and split ad revenue
blinkx, one of the leading video search engines, has announced that it has closed a deal with Getty Images to publish editorial footage from Getty Images along with contextually relevant advertising to generate advertising revenue to be shared. ITN Source appoints Neil Meadows as UK Sales Director
ITN Source, a leading provider of stock footage from the UK has announced the appointment of Neil Meadows to the post of Sales Director. Meadows will start at ITN Source in April and will be responsible for ITN Source’s sales operation, primarily in the UK. Previously Meadows served as the Senior Commercial Director for Chellomedia, the content and technology division of cable operator Liberty Global Inc. Neil has also held business development and sales management roles at BBC Technology, BSkyB, Cable and Wireless and Meridian Broadcasting.

Recently Kyle MacRae the CEO of Scoopt, an agency specializing in marketing the work of amateur/citizen photojournalists, was interviewed on CNN by Jonathan Mann. During the interview MacRae highlights examples of images sold by Scoopt and the potential revenue that may be earned with your cell phone camera. Mann asks the question “Is this going to turn anyone with a cell phone into a member of a lurking hoard of people chasing celebrities on the off-chance they might be able to get a shot just like professional paparazzi?” MacRae’s response “in 18 months of business we simply haven’t seen it.”
