Getty employess get Axed in round of lay-offsWe have learned that Getty Images has effected another round of lay-offs.  Sources tell us the company has let go about 100 employees altogether from its London, New York and Seattle offices.  We expect to learn more details about the lay-offs when the company releases its 2nd quarter ’07 results, later today. In the meantime, a spokesperson for the company would only say, “There will be a small reduction in headcount, in keeping with Getty's ongoing business realignment.”

Unlike past layoffs, when the company trimmed the head-count among the rank and file, several relatively high-level managers are also reported to have received pink-slips; Linda Ranz, SVP of Technology and Robert Gubas, VP of Marketing, Brooks McMahon, a busines sdevelopment executive who managed hand-held mobile licensing, Andy Hill (who came in with the Punchstock acquisition,) Harry Elger and Carrie McCabe. Ms. Ranz, who joined the company in 1999, has since held a number of key managerial positions, including vice president of business development, vice president of royalty free product marketing, vice president of editorial, managing all aspects of development and global marketing strategy of services to editorial customers, vice president, web and international marketing and senior vice president, customer experience.
