Mondy Beller resigns as VP of Marketing for JupiterImages
Mondy Beller, who served as VP of Marketing at PictureArts and then at Jupiter Images, has left the company to join the management team of Shop.com. For Ms. Beller, the move marks a return to the online retail industry. Prior to PictureArts, she worked for several online retailers including AOL Shopping, Ticketmaster and Shoes.com. "So, I am basically going back to my roots," Ms. Beller says, adding, "While I have really enjoyed my experience in the stock image industry, I feel that there are bigger opportunities for me in a consumer based business such as online retailing." As Shop.com's SVP of Marketing, Ms. Beller will oversee marketing, merchandising, site design, product development and customer experience.
When asked about the several high-level departues from Jupiter during the last several months, Ms. Beller replied, "I don't think it is unusual to see this kind of management shake out after an acquisition. Several of the PictureArts senior managers were let go because their jobs were redundant. Others, such as myself, have simply found new opportunities."
"Jupiterimages has acquired numerous companies in a very short amount of time," said Ms. Beller. "This means there are lots of challenges in terms of merging technology, systems, and personnel. These challenges are not unique to Jupiterimages, nor are they insurmountable. However, there are some senior managers who have been effected by the growing pains of the company."
Ms. Beller offered the following comments regarding Jupiter's position in the stock photo industry: "Jupiterimages has become the number 3 player in a very competitive industry in just a little over a year. That is quite an achievement. Jupiter has been able to quickly expand their reach by successfully implementing a marketing strategy that speaks directly to the creative audience. They have also been able to quickly convert customers due to an ever expanding image library that includes exclusive content. Customer awareness is very high and conversion continues to increase. I don't expect Jupiter to take over either of the top 2 players in the industry. However, I do expect that Jupiter will continue to take significant market share from these companies."
