Thought Equity Motion now Licensing Stock MusicThought Equity Motion (TEM,) the motion content licensing and management business based in Denver, has added a music licensing component to its web-site.  The new music offering includes exclusive Rights Managed music clips, Royalty Free music clips and a selection of RF sound effects and loops.  Prices for the Royalty Free music range from $29 to $59 for tracks of varying duration from 12 seconds to approximately four minutes.  Short sound effect loops go for $9.

Jupiter Media acquires micro-payment music site eStockMusic.comJupitermedia Corporation (Nasdaq: JUPM) has announced that it has acquired the assets of eStockMusic.com. The purchase now allows Jupiter to offer lower-cost music for licensing in a micro-payment licensing model along with royalty-free digital images and footage on Stockxpert.com.

Getty adds film scores from Lionsgate to its music archives

Getty representing film scores from Lionsgate including the music from 3:10 to YumaGetty Images continues to pursue avenues of growth apart from its principal business activity of licensing still photography.  On the audio content licensing front, Getty has just signed a deal with the independent film production company, Lionsgate, whose most recent feature film ‘3:10 to Yuma,’ received an Oscar nomination for its musical score.  The deal includes scores from other well-known Lionsgate films ‘Monster’s Ball’ and ‘Crash’ as well as music from the company’s television productions.

Getty launches music search tool Soundtrack

Getty launches its digital music from Pump Audio with new search tool called SoundtrackHaving acquired the digital music licensing company Pump Audio back in June of this year, Getty Images has launched the service on its own flagship web-site, GettyImages.com. Users can now access Pump Audio’s 20,000+ original sound tracks with an easy-to-use search tool called Soundtrack.

Getty 2Q07 – core creative stills business down

Getty Images releases 2Q07 FinancialsIn a conference call with analysts yesterday to discuss Getty’s 2nd quarter 2007 results, CEO Jonathan Klein painted a picture of a company whose core business is contracting while it reaches for new businesses for long-term growth.  Decreasing creative stills sales, which comprised 75% of the company’s total revenue of $218MM for the quarter, resulted in a currency neutral decrease in revenue of 2%, year-over-year.  The company’s stock closed slightly down at the end of the day, at $44.84.

Jupitermedia Corporation (JUPM) has announced the acquisition of a leading RF Music producer called RoyaltyFreeMusic.com. The acquisition gives Jupiter one of the top brands and URL’s to offer RF music and over 1,100 wholly-owned tracks of high quality royalty free music. This new acquisition will likely strengthen Jupiter’s music offering and complement its previous RF music acquisitions (Steve Shapiro Music Library - April, 2006, Crank City Music - March, 2006,  BBM.net - December, 2005).

Jupiter acquires Steve Shapiro Music

JupiterImages has announced the acquisition of certain assets of Steve Shapiro Music, a wholly owned royalty-free music collection offering moods, themes and instrumentation ranging from hip-hop to classical styles. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.  The acquisition adds yet another off-beat (!) content collection to Jupiter’s growing and varied repertoire (!) of digital content.  Jupiter clearly intends to take a dominating position in the RF sound and music space having acquired Crank City Music in March 2006 and BBM.net in December 2005.  Says Jupiter CEO, Alan Meckler, "Steve Shapiro, founder of Steve Shapiro Music, will continue to work with Jupitermedia on a consulting basis as we build out a world class royalty-free music distribution operation. Jupiter acquires Crank City Music

In a move foreshadowed last week in the Jupiter Media’s Q4 conference call. Jupiter Images has announced the acquisition of royalty-free music producer Crank City Music. The obvious appeal for Jupiter is Crank City Music’s wholly-owned music library of over 1,300 royalty-free music tracks giving Jupiter even more content to license without the obligation of royalty payments. Crank City Music provides royalty free CD collections in a variety of themes and styles for a wide range of product applications, and MP3 downloads with a simple preview/purchase/download e-commerce process located at www.crankcity.com. Produced by professional studio musicians, the high quality tracks feature creative arrangements with contemporary themes that utilize the latest in audio technology. "We are pleased to purchase over 1,300 royalty free music tracks and the associated Web site. In combination with our recent acquisition of BBM.net in December 2005, Jupiter Media is now one of the largest owners of digitized royalty-free music for promotional and Web use in the world," stated Alan M. Jupiter acquires Bigshot Media and BBM.net

Bigshot_bbmnet_jupiter_1Jupiter Media has just announced the strategic acquisitions of Bigshot Media and BBM.net. Bigshot Media is touted as the words first and largest collection of royalty-Free stock flash footage and was conceived by a group of folks at firstlight, a stock photo agency in Toronto, Canada.  Alabama based BBM.net is an international group of commercial music composers and recording artists offering royalty-free flash music loops created by musicians from around the world. Alan Meckler (CEO of Jupiter Media) had the following statements about the acquisitions "Bigshot Media's leadership position in providing stock flash footage further expands JupiterImages' range of image offerings and makes JupiterImages the number one company in the rapidly growing field of flash imagery for Web sites.”  “BBM.net's royalty-free music loops in flash and other formats adds yet another dimension to our image and media offerings," Specific terms of the acquisitions have not been disclosed and it is unknown whether the assets acquired include ownership of the content offered by each of these companies. Update (12/07/05): Bigshot Media has confirmed that all of the flash movies are wholly owned by Bigshot Media Inc.  The total number of movies within the collection is approximately 5500-6000.
