Dreamstime partners with free image search engine Picfindr.com
Picfindr.com, an image search engine that pulls results only from sites that offer images free of copyright restrictions for commercial use, has agreed to add low-cost micro-stock images from Dreamstime to its search results. Picfindr will display Dreamstime images for a given search whenever the search fails to retrieve appropriate images from the various sites it trolls for free image results. Dreamstime is the only micro-stock agency aligned with PicFindr.
Founded in in Michigan in 2006, Picfindr searches a pre-determined set of web-sites vetted by the company, including creative commons sites, photo community sites, and sites with images in the public domain, among others. Dreamstime, which had already given Picfindr access to its own free images, will now give the Picfindr search engine access to its entire collection. The deal gives Dreamstime exposure to a new set of customers seeking imagery and it give those customers better selections of images to choose from. Picfindr users will pay Dreamstime’s usual low fees for any Dreamstime images they download from Picfindr.
"Dreamstime's visionary yet down-to-earth approach is a perfect fit for us," said Rick Englert, PicFindr founder and creator. "This partnership will offer PicFindr users even greater choices, while broadening PicFindr's appeal to a larger audience." Dreamstime will share part of the revenue generated on the site with Picfindr. Currently, the Dreamstime partnership represents Picfindr's only source of revenue, though that will change as new features roll out, Englert says.
"This new venture with PicFindr.com will not only enhance Dreamstime.com exposure overall to potential new clients and/or contributors, it will allow us to better serve each and every photo-shopper," said Serban Enache, CEO and co-creator of Dreamstime.com.
