Getty launches Thinkstock subscription productGetty Images announced it will now offer another subscription product, Thinkstock, giving new life to a brand the company acquired from Jupiter Images in 2008.  The Thinkstock subscription product will include millions of high-quality royalty free photographs, illustrations and vectors from its Getty Images, iStockphoto and Jupiter Images collections.  Thinkstock will include both professional and user-generated content.  Getty plans to add thousands of new images to the product weekly to keep it fresh and vibrant.

StockXpert is ceasing regular operations

StockXpert is ceasing regular operationsIn a recent message sent to users of the micropayment stock photography site StockXpert, the company announced that it is ceasing operations and that it will no longer sell new credits or accept new members. The StockXpert site was launched by the Hungarian based HAAP Media which also operated the popular sxc.hu, a free stock photography download site. The business was later acquired by JupiterImages in Nov 2006 which was acquired itself by Getty Images in Oct 2008.  Getty Images also owns iStockphoto, the world’s most popular micro-payment stock photography site.

TopFoto’s gallery launches exhibit chronicling Russia and the Soviet Union from 1917-2010

Photo by Victor Grebnev. - CRIA Novosti / TopFotoThe new TopFoto Gallery in Edenbridge was proud to launch the “Soviet Times: Russian Times, 1917-2010” exhibit, which will run from February 4 through March 31, 2010.  The exhibit features work from Soviet-era and modern Russian photographers and captures the tragic and important history of the USSR and Russia from the Revolution days of 1917 through current times. The show includes the work of renowned Russian photographers, including World Press Award winners Vladimir Vyatkin, whose image of soldiers in Chechnya won the Gold Medal in 2002.

Visions of America: Photographing Democracy by Joseph SohmDuring the past 30 years Joseph Sohm visited and photographed all fifty states, documenting the rich cultural and political history of the United States.  His far-reaching collection of images have been published more than 50,000 times, including his Bill Clinton portrait that graces the back cover of the former President’s biography, “My Life”.  As he had built his impressive collection, Sohm has become a respected photo historian featured on C-SPAN and sought after for keynote addresses at various trade organization shows and university conferences.

PhotoShelter Partners with PicScout to track and monetize images onlinePhotoShelter, an online storage and archiving business for photographers has announced that it has teamed up with PicScout, a technology company with offices in the U.S. and Israel best known for their Image Tracker and PicApp products, to automatically include PhotoShelter photographers’ images in the PicScout ImageIRC (index, registry and connection platform). As part of this partnership PhotoShelter photographers’ images will be identified by PicScout’s ImageExchange add-on which populates an (i) icon on images wherever they are used online providing valuable information to image users and a one click connection back to the PhotoShelter photographer’s e-commerce page to facilitate legitimate image sales.

More than 500,000 clips from Getty Images now available through Footage.netFootage.net, a stock footage search engine, has announced that it has now partnered with Getty Images, the world’s leading creator and distributor of visual and digital media content, to include its entire footage database of more than 500,000 clips in the Footage.net search platform. “The partnership with Getty Images adds greatly to the breadth, depth and value of our footage search engine, and we look forward to providing Getty Images with another channel to serve the global production community,” said Footage.net President Domenick Propati. “We are especially pleased that Footage.net users will now have access to Getty Images’ amazing collection of high-quality contemporary footage.”
