Cutcaster launches NASDAQ-like marketplace for stock photography and footage

Cutcaster, A new image marketplace has launched offering Royalty Free photos and video from a community of photographers and videographers. However, this new marketplace has a unique approach to pricing which makes it difficult to label as micro-stock, mid-stock or traditional stock pricing because the contributor sets the pricing based on supply and demand. In addition content providers can interact with potential buyers who are permitted to submit bids for content, which the contributor can accept, decline or meet with a return offer. “I came from a stock trading background on Wall St. where electronic trading platforms seamlessly helped buyers and sellers find one another, negotiate on pricing and cut out the expensive and inefficient middleman” states Cutcaster founder John Griffin.

In addition to its innovative pricing marketplace, Cutcaster has a custom-stock platform called ProjectRequest that allows image buyers to request pictures or footage from the Cutcaster community. This feature is coupled with customizable studio pages for contributors to promote promote themselves and convert Cutcaster users into their customers. “This isn’t just another static storefront where the agency or site sets the price,” explained Griffin. “Cutcaster is dynamic and unique because it matches supply and demand by giving creators the option to set their own price for the cost of a royalty free license or choose Cutcaster’s patent-pending pricing algorithm to find the correct market price.  On the other hand, the site lets buyers seamlessly submit bids/lower prices for content to a seller, which they can accept, decline or meet with a return offer back to that buyer.”
