Corbis rights services used by high-profile accounts in America and Europe

Corbis rights services used by Bounty, GE, and BC HydroCorbis announced last year its intention to expand its rights and clearances service as part of its strategy to achieve profitability.  Today, the company announced several high-profile accounts landed by its Rights and Music Clearance department.  Corbis has provided various services to Publicis on behalf of the Bounty paper-towel brand in the UK, BBDO for GE in the US and DDB Canada for BC Hydro, the Canadian utility company.

In the case of Publicis and Bounty, Corbis helped clear use of clips from a popular British TV program in the 1970’s. Corbis also secured releases from the actors’ estates for the purpose of creating a Bounty television commercial.  BBDO and GE had Corbis source high-definition footage of wild animals for an in-cinema and on-line campaign called “Serengeti.”  And, finally, Corbis helped DDB Canada and BC Hydro source footage and secure releases from a number of Canadian celebrities for a TV campaign.

The increasing attention to rights and clearances services provides one example of how the big three stock photo companies, as well as the smaller public company, A21/Superstock, have found it necessary to diversify their businesses beyond just providing imagery to clients.
