PLATON Now At Trunk

Photo agency Trunk Archive based in New York has announced they now representing ‘renowned portraitist and image-maker’ PLATON for exclusive worldwide image licensing.

PLATON contributes regularly to Time, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Magazine, Vanity Fair, Esquire, GQ and The Sunday Times Magazine. In 2008 The New Yorker took the unprecedented step of signing Platon to a multi-year contract. This commission resulted in a series of large-scale photo essays covering themes including the Inauguration of President Obama, the U.S Military and the Civil Rights Movement, which were recognized with ASME Awards in 2009 and 2010. In 2011 Platon collaborated with The Human Rights Watch, photographing notable human rights activists around the globe in order to raise awareness for their campaigns. They say: ‘In addition to his impressive and wide-ranging career as a portrait photographer, Platon is a noted public speaker. He has addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos and lectured at Yale University, The London School of Economics, and The National Portrait Gallery in London. He has also appeared on numerous award-winning television programs including Charlie Rose and BBC World News.

Platon has published two monographs, Platon’s Republic in 2004 and Power in 2011. His work has been exhibited in New York at Matthew Marks Gallery and Howard Greenberg Gallery. In 2011 The New York Historical Society featured a solo show of Platon’s Civil Rights photographs, which were subsequently acquired for the museum’s permanent collection.
