PicScout hires Dan Heller as Vice President of Marketing
PicScout, a technology company with offices in San Francisco and Herzelia Israel best known for their Image Tracker and PicApp products, has announced that it has appointed industry blogger and consultant Dan Heller to the post of Vice President of Marketing. “Dan’s experience and strategic vision within the photo industry perfectly complements PicScout’s management team and direction at this time,” said Offir Gutelzon, CEO and Co-founder at PicScout. “His technological background and business development make him a perfect fit for leading our marketing strategy within a technology-centric company as we embark on the next important milestone in global growth with our industry-leading image-recognition platform.”
Heller has a degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and has been a veteran at early high-tech start-ups such as Sun Microsystems and O’Reilly & Associates. In 1990, he started his own company, Z-Code Software, where he created the first commercially-available email system based entirely on Internet protocols.
Heller turned to photography in the mid-1990s as a hobby. “But then it became clear the internet was going to redefine the entire industry, and I had to be a part of it. Consulting was fine, but my real passion is in building companies, and PicScout is perfect for that. They have a strong, innovative technology, with an incredible team,” Heller added.
