Getty Images and AFP renew partnership agreement
Getty Images, widely considered to be the world’s largest stock licensing company, has announced that it has renewed a deal with the global press agency, Agence France-Presse (AFP) allowing both companies to leverage the others archive. The renewed contract takes effect on 1st June 2009 and extends the partnership between the two companies for an additional three years from the initial agreement put into effect in 2003.
Nick Evans-Lombe, chief operating officer, Getty Images said: “Since 2003, our partnership with AFP has greatly aided us in providing an unparalleled product and service to our customers and helped extend our global reach, particularly in Europe. As the demand for compelling editorial imagery from our customers continues to grow, we are delighted to extend the relationship and we look forward to another successful and rewarding three years.”
Jean-Pierre Vignolle, Managing Director of AFP said: “Getty Images’ superb coverage of North America, particularly in the fields of sport and entertainment, has been a perfect complement to AFP over the course of our relationship. The renewal of our contract with Getty Images signals the commitment and complementary nature of our two agencies, as we pursue this strategic partnership.”
AFP and Getty Images also signed a separate agreement on video sharing at the beginning of the year. Under the terms of the agreement, each party was granted access to the other’s video productions, for which they have non-exclusive worldwide marketing rights.
