Mazer Corporation closes its doors, seeking buyer for creative services division
The Mazer Corporation, an educational publishing company based in Dayton Ohio, had recently launched a stock photography licensing business called Mazerstock. However the Dayton Daily News is reporting that company has closed its corporate and creative services divisions Tuesday, Dec. 30, and fired its staff, according to an internal to an e-mail by David Mazer, the company’s chief executive officer.
The email cites a number of reasons for the closure including a bad economy and a shortage of capital. “A combination of events in the publishing market and the state of the general economy has taken their toll on Mazer Corporation, The Mazer Family still believed in the company’s potential and recently increased its investment to continue operations, but could not secure additional funding” the email stated.
It remains unclear how many people worked for the company. In 2006, the company employed 185 people according to Rob Anderson, assistant city manager for Dayton OH.
