Shutterstock reaches milestone of 100,000 editorial images Shutterstock, a New York City based micro-payment stock photography subscription service, has announced that it has attained a new milestone with its growing editorial image collection which has surpassed the 100,000 images. The company attributes much of the success in growing this collection to its entertainment/celebrity photo program which aids contributing photographers in gaining access to red-carpet events. The program was launched in June 2007 and has been working to help obtain press credentials for film premieres, award shows, concerts and political events.

“Shutterstock on the Red Carpet is truly a win-win for buyers and photographers,” said Jon Oringer, founder and CEO of Shutterstock. “This unique program enables us to provide even more high quality, celebrity and entertainment stock images at affordable prices. Plus, Shutterstock’s talented worldwide photographers benefit from our commitment to helping them gain access to the most exciting events across the globe.”

It would be very interesting to know how much Shutterstock charge per image or what kind of subscription they propose to their clients. I guess a lot of LA based photo agencies are not amused about this service. I don’t think they needed this kind of competion. At any premiere thre are at least a huge amount of shooters.
