SD007-002-00201 Profle of two hospital surgeons standing back to back. Two friends, award-winning press photographer Stewart Goldstein and his friend David Davis, former financial journalist with The Times and vice chairman of Edelman, have launched a new specialty stock library which they believe will address the needs of a vastly underserved market for healthcare and medical imagery. The two friends who launched Medicimage Ltd above a garage in North London, claim to have invested more than 3 years of their time and £500,000 (approx $1 million) in Medicimage, which is launching in Beta version at medicimage.co.uk with a wholly-owned archive of 100,000 original images and many hundreds of hours of broadcast quality video footage.

According to the company’s founders the Medicimage library includes images that vary from sufferers from leprosy, AIDS and rare diseases such as Mycetoma, shot in Africa; stem cell researchers in Japan and China; the 24/7 work nurses, doctors, and surgeons in UK and German hospitals, as well as footage of brain and cancer operations, endoscopy procedures, paediatrics including the birth of premature babies and Siamese twins.

“We have created a memorable newsworthy collection of images which have set new production and content quality industry standards. The initial reaction has exceeded our most optimistic expectations. We look forward to the future with confidence, given that the global demand for high quality print and online medical imagery has never been higher with medicine and health in the top three global news topics” states Davis, chairman of Medicimage.
