Encyclopedia Britannica image archives now available for distributionThe Encyclopedia Britannica have made their visual content archives, including photos, maps, illustrations, natural science drawings, slides and animations, available for distribution and stock licensing.  The collection holds approximately 55,000 images of which the company has digitized nearly two thirds.

“The Britannica Image Collection is unique and offers many licensing opportunities for both distributors and agents alike, particularly at a time when there is a significant increase in demand for multi-media content in the educational, publishing and online information services markets,” noted George Sinclair, Executive Director and Founder of the Virtual Picture Desk, whom EB have hired to set up distribution with agencies world-wide.

“We are delighted that we can now make the Britannica Image Collection available to the editorial and commercial markets as well as other publishers and educational organizations,” said Michael Ross, senior vice president of Encyclopaedia Britannica.
