Newscom.com beefs up sales team
Having dedicated several years to building their content offerings by taking on partnerships with a variety of suppliers of various forms of content, Newscom has now addressed the matter of selling that content by building a sales team made up of personnel from within and outside the stock photo industry. The company has appointed David Young, formerly a manager of business development at Platts, a McGraw Hill Company providing information and pricing services to the global energy markets, to the post of Vice President of Sales. Three other executives with experience at either Corbis or Getty, round out the new sales management team at Newscom.
Young will take over his new job from Tom Bannon, who has been named Vice President of Business Development. Before joining Newscom eighteen months ago, Bannon held the positions of director of sales for national accounts at Getty Images. Two other industry insiders have joined the Newscom sales team as Senior Account Executives; Christina Popes, formerly of Polaris Images and Corbis, and Laure Lion, a former market development executive and sales manager for Getty Images, as well as sales manager at Corbis.
As VP of Sales, Young will take over key account management and responsibility for the expansion of the sales team. As Vice President for Business Development, Bannon is charged with securing and closing large-scale agreements as well as identifying strategic partners in new and emerging markets. Both Young and Bannon will work out of Newscom’s New York City office.
