CorbisMotion to represent Maysles Brothers Archives
Corbis announced a new partnership with Albert Maysles, the surviving member of the Maysles brothers documentary team responsible for a list of ground-breaking films including Gimme Shelter, Meet Marlon Brando, With Love from Truman, Salesman, and Grey Gardens. In addition Corbis will re-master many of these works and make available out-takes never seen before from many of the films.
Two of America’s foremost non-fiction filmmakers, Albert Maysles and his brother David Maysles (1932-1987) are recognized as pioneers of the art of documentary film making. They earned their distinguished reputations by being the first to make non-fiction feature films that capture the complexity of human life without scripts, sets or narration. Many of the out-takes which Corbis will now make available were experiments taken during the filming and reveal new insight into the riveting documentaries. Corbis Motion will make several hundred clips from films and footage available for preview on its website over the coming months.
