Beata Chelette to leave Corbis. Edie Tobias to take over Entertainment Division
Beate Chelette, the founder of the Beateworks, a boutique agency that specialized in architecture, interior design and celebrity homes, will leave the post she has held since Corbis bought her company in March, 2006. After the sale to Corbis, the company appointed Chelette to the position of Senior Director of Photography, Entertainment. Edie Tobias, a veteran of the stock photo industry who most recently worked for Jupiter Images, will take over for Chelette effective immediately.
Chelette originally founded Beateworks as a specialty agency dedicated to architecture. She later added a Royalty Free brand InsideOutPix and the Beateworks@Home collection featuring celebrities in their home environment. Corbis credits Chelette's with launching its celebrity-focused brand called Outline which includes the Outline@Home, OutlineLive and Entertainment red-carpet collections. "This has been a rewarding past two years, and I am really proud of what we've accomplished as a team," she says. "Edie is the perfect choice to execute Corbis' long term strategies and will add her signature to the brands. Corbis' quality approach is what customers want, and I know it will be successful."
Tobias began her career in the stock photo industry at Sharpshooters, an agency in Miami acquired by Corbis. She remained with Corbis for five years after that purchase and then joined PictureArts which was later acquired by Jupiter. She leaves her position at Jupiter as Vice President for Creative Content at Jupiter to take the job at Corbis. "I am really pleased to return to Corbis," said Tobias. "It is an incredible opportunity to lead Outline and build on the momentum that Corbis has achieved in the celebrity arena over the past couple of years."
When asked what asked what she'll do next, Chelette responded, "I am ready for some fun. I am going to write my book and pursue speaking engagements about Woman Entrepreneurship which I love. There are some other ideas on the table I that I will consider after I have taken some time off."
