Crestock holds Photoshop contest for designers
The Norwegian micro-stock company, Crestock, plans to hold a design contest that will require contestants to create designs using Photoshop and featuring a pre-selected set of images from the company’s archive. Winners of each of the four-rounds of the contest will be chosen by popular vote on the site and a jury of digital artists. Contestants will compete for the grand prize, a Quad Core Mac Pro with Dual 30" HD Cinema LCD displays.
Contests are fast becoming a common way to generate traffic to a web-site. The company held a similar Photoshop contest last year and a Photography contest earlier this year. Based on the response those contests received, CEO Geir Are Jensen, says he expects well over half a million visitors to the contest site this year.
This year’s Photoshop contest on Crestock will take place over four rounds over a four week period. Each contestant to advance will receive prizes increasing in value with each round, from iPods in the first round to MacBook and MacBook Pro in the second and third rounds. Judges already signed up for the jury include Mike Rundle; CEO at 9Rules, Jonathan Snook; Owner of Snook.ca, Jeff Gamet; Editor at MacObserver and Roger Johansson; Owner of 456Bereastreet.
