Image Source launches AXIS, distribution service for third-party production companies
The London-based RF production company, Image Source, has launched AXIS, a distribution service for third-party producers of royalty-free imagery. The service will give smaller and start-up RF producers the opportunity to take advantage of the vast world-wide network of distributors Image Source has already established. The company will not make public the revenue split under the AXIS program.
Image Source says it will distribute the imagery carried through Axis under both the Image Source Brand and the brand of the production company, as in “Image Source for Hola Images” or “Image Source for Aurora.” Image Source will maintain its considerable rate of in-house production while taking on these outside sources of material as a way to round out its collection. According to Duncan Gossart, co-CEO of the company, “Image Source will continue to produce the world’s finest quality commercial images in-house and plans to release over 30,000 in 2008. The third-party suppliers on the AXIS service will bolster our own production and allow us to expand our library and products in areas we want to grow or which we don’t specialise in. For example, Hola Images concentrates on Hispanic images while Aurora specialises in outdoor photography.”
Image Source is actively seeking production companies to sign on to AXIS, though the material submitted will be carefully reviewed for compliance with Image Source’s quality and technical standards. The company asks interested producers to contact Simon Perfect:
