Dreamstime contest offers “Shoot with Ron Chapple” prize
The micro-stock company, Dreamstime, has announced an innovative contest which is sure to create a “buzz” on the site and among micro-stock photographers. The winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Maui, Hawaii to participate in a shoot with veteran stock shooter and businessman, Ron Chapple, an established leader among stock photographers. Dreamstime will choose the winner from among entrants who participate in three “assignments” posted on their site. The company holds periodic assignment contests in which participants must submit portrayals of a specific subject or concept.
Chapple lives in Hawaii, but travels throughout the year on stock and assignment shoots, and maintains a studio in North Carolina with a crew of digital artists, photographers and editors. He began working as a photographer in 1984 and founded the royalty free company, Thinkstock in 2000 (which he sold to Jupiter images in 2004.) He plans to cover all aspects of shooting with the winner of the Dreamstime contest including creative direction, lighting, shooting techniques in various challenging situations (still life and night shooting) and how to work effectively with models. "Shooting stock is a lifestyle. I'm looking forward to working with the Dreamstime contest winner to not only share my love of shooting, but many of the practical details that make for a successful shoot." Chapple said.
The contest will only be open to photographers who have demonstrated longevity and success as active and interactive Dreamstime contributors and who have already achieved semi-professional or professional status. Eligible photographers will be selected based upon the photographer’s history of successful assignment participation and submissions, correlated with total sales within their portfolio.
