iStock gives away $100K to its exclusive photographersiStockphoto announced that all of its exclusive members – those who offer their work exclusively in iStock – will receive 100% of all revenue generated on their images during he entire day yesterday, August 20, 2007.  According to the company, this represents over $100K distributed among the 2,300 excluisive members as a result of one day’s worth of downloads from the site.

The giveaway coincides with iStock’s previously announced “Punctum Day,” a celebration of outstanding artistry by iStock members in which the company will give awards in five categories based on member voting which took place on August 19th. “Punctum Day was inspired by our members, and we gave the money away the first weekday after to maximize the bonus paid our contributors. We wanted to find a way to thank our iStockphoto ‘exclusives’ and this is a great way to reward them for their support and for making iStockphoto the most visited stock imagery site in the world,“ said Bruce Livingstone, CEO of iStockphoto.

One iStockphoto exclusive member, Kelly Cline, says, “iStockphoto is a stellar machine that enables me to make money from what was once a hobby, and the support of the network has encouraged me to pursue it fully. Receiving the extra money is an exceptional bonus.”

iStock announced the shortlists for the Punctum Day awards on August 19th and will announce winners on September 4th.

Wow, what a bonus… $43.48 (assuming they are generous enough to round up)… maybe they can take their girlfriends to somewhere other than McDonalds for diner… but, just don’t make those Gary Danko reservations.

That about the same as a lump of coal as your Christmas bonus.
