Corbis is “in” at Conde Nast publication Women’s Wear Daily
Corbis continues to strengthen its celebrity and entertainment offerings with two new initiatives announced this week. First, the company has signed a deal with Condé Nast for the representation of fashion and celebrity images from the elite fashion industry trade magazine Women’s Wear Daily. Corbis will now make images from the world’s most exclusive fashion shows, parties and fashion industry events available for editorial use by the fast-growing entertainment media.
“Corbis is committed to providing creative professionals with the leading Entertainment imagery, which makes the Condé Nast WWD collection a perfect addition to our offering,” said Beate Chelette, Sr. Director of Photography for Entertainment, Corbis. “The Condé Nast WWD collection is known for its exclusive, unprecedented access and coverage of fashion industry events and virtually every catwalk worldwide. This partnership allows us to further enhance our Entertainment image coverage.”
Corbis also announced that it will now offer Entertainment Story Packs, small selections of images covering a specific celebrity, event or story idea. Corbis editors will create the story packs based on their perception of upcoming trends and seasonal topics in the entertainment reporting industry.

Hello Chris,
In regard to the Virgin Mobile use of a Flickr photo that wasn’t released, you mention that so far the microstock companies have avoided such a problem. But as I read it, you seem to imply that such an event is simply a disaster waiting to happen. But please note that Dreamstime requires model releases for all recognizable people in any image that we accept. Just to make certain you are aware as many people seem to think that this isn’t the case.

so ellen,
does that mean you can’t upload or offer a photo for sale that doesn’t have a model release or is it up to the buyer to make sure there is a model release on hand? i assume the seller must upload the release with the photo or do they have to just check a box that says they have it.
