Introducing Celtiber a specialty archive from Spain and Portugal
A new stock photography site featuring images from Spain and Portugal has launched from Madrid Spain with a unique offering of Rights Managed (RM) images from Spain and Portugal. True to its roots, the new agency calls itself Celtiber, a name stemming from the Celtiberian people who were a kind of mix between the Celts and the Iberians considered to be the ancestors of modern Spaniards. The specialty niche collection is focused on places and events often missing from some of the bigger commercial libraries. In addition Celtiber’s founder David Guijarro stated that the library offers “pictures with a twist” and all files are available for immediate download or visitors can easily order prints of their favorite photos.
The site was launched on the PhotoShelter platform in order to streamline the buying process. “We chose PhotoShelter because we found it to be the only platform that allows us to deliver instant downloads on RM, thanks to their online quoting system provided by fotoQuote” Stated Guijarro.
When asked about the quality of images available Guijarro commented “We aren’t interested at all in quantity, but instead we mind quality, i.e. significance, relevancy and uniqueness in our photos. So our goal is to offer our customers a limited, heavily edited, group of photographs. Images from large agencies often bear ‘that stock look’, and they tend to look quite similar one to another“.
According to Guajirro, small specialist agencies face a number of unique challenges “Our greatest challenge is surely to find our place through a world of macro companies and micro stocks, both of which sum up a very hard competition. In the face of such stiff competition Celtiber hopes that its regional focus will help to differentiate their offering. “Spain and Portugal have lots of lovely corners, of amazing but not-so-famous places, that aren’t documented well enough, in terms of stock photography.” Stated Guajirro.
