PhotoShelter offering one terabyte (TB) of storage for $1,000PhotoShelter, the provider of online archiving, work-flow, distribution and marketing services for professional photographers, has lowered the storage fees charged to its subscribers with an offer of one terabyte (TB) of storage space at $1,000 per year.  The company made the offer in response to the current ingest rate of 2.5TB of image files per week, a rate that continues to grow.  The new price represents an almost 80% drop from its prices of less than a year ago of $400 per month or $4,800 per year for the same amount of space.

To put the amount of storage this represents into perspective, 1TB equals 1,024 gigabytes which, in turn, equals 1,024 megabytes of space. In more practical terms, 1TB of space will hold approximately 20,480 50MB images. PhotoShelter subscribers have the option to send hard-drives with their image files to the company for uploading onto the system, a convenience for photographers with huge amounts of data that would take hours to upload online or those with slow Internet connections. The system also provides security against disasters by maintaining mirrored datacenters in locations on the east and west coasts of the US.

The one terabyte of data offer is available to all Standard ($29.99/month) and Pro PhotoShelter ($49.99/month) account subscribers. These subscribers may also purchase 500 gigabytes of storage at a rate of $600 per year.
