Hawkes is based in London and has specialized in creating aerial photography in locations around the world since 1991. In addition to offering images for stock licensing, Hawkes has produced more than 25 aerial photographic books, and his advertising and design clients include brands such as Nike, HSBC, Ford, American Airlines, Rolex, Toyota, Smirnoff, Mitsubishi and BP.

When asked about the body of work Hawkes pointed out that the images were all shot from helicopters (rather than airplanes) which provides a unique aerial perspective. The images are all available for Rights Managed (RM) licensing as 100Mb Tiffs or higher. In addition approximately 500 images are offered through Corbis.

As a specialty niche collection Jason Hawkes hopes the depth and breadth of the collection will attract buyers looking for something a bit more unique “Whilst other sites, will have the more famous locations shot from the air, I have many 1000's of more generic aerial views with a very graphic theme, that just are not available from other collections.”

Hawkes offered the following explanation of his process to create the aerial photographs in the collection. “I shoot from helicopters, which vary in price from £350 - 1200 GBP per hour. I always shoot with the door off, harnessed to a hard point in the helicopter. Currently I shoot digitally using a Hasselblad H3D - 39, which has an incredible resolution, the camera is mounted using a gyro stabilizer allowing much slower shutter speeds than can normally be achieved from an aircraft.”
