PLUS Coalition announces stock photo license registry with ImageSpan
The Picture Licensing Universal System (PLUS) and a technology company in the San Francisco area, ImageSpan, issued a joint press-release to announce their collaboration on an image license registry. The press-release says, “Now under development by PLUS and ImageSpan, the PLUS License Registry will provide a framework through which licensors and licensees may more effectively track the rights associated with image licenses. ImageSpan has also worked closely with PLUS to develop tools facilitating the use of the PLUS standards, including the PLUS Media Selector/Decoder, PLUS License Generator and the PLUS XMP Embedder/Reader.”
ImageSpan, whose CTO is stock industry veteran Jeffrey Shear, has donated hours of development time to PLUS. “They have provided invaluable technical assistance to PLUS, including the creation of our essential review and comment system and our usage matrix database, among other areas,” said Jeff Sedlik, CEO of PLUS. “We needed a license registry to make PLUS work and we knew ImageSpan could help make that happen, as well,” he added. ImageSpan will receive a nominal fee from PLUS for the setting up the registry and will also receive the benefit of having “Powered by ImageSpan” on every page of the registry site.
The PLUS License Registry will help streamline the image licensing process through use of the PLUS standards, but also more comprehensive license maintenance and tracking through ImageSpan’s technology. ImageSpan’s primary business is to provide offers comprehensive content management as well e-commerce enabled license transaction processing.
