Womens Tennis Association selects Action ImagesLondon-based Action Images, acquired by Reuters last year, has signed a two-year contract with the Sony Ericsson Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour, the governing body of women's professional tennis, to serve as its official photography partner. The contract begins on January 1, 2007. With the contract, Action Images replaces Getty Images as the WTA's official photo provider.

The WTA contract marks the most high-profile contract awarded to date to Action Images, which currently has contracts with soccer and rugby organizations in Europe. This deal allows Action Images to play to its strengths, supporting Sony Ericsson WTA Tour events globally on and off the court." She adds, "It brings our involvement in tennis to a new level both in the editorial and, increasingly, commercial market."

Action Images CEO, David Kelly, says the company may expand into the US next year. In the meantime, they are hiring sports photographers. Interested photographers should contact Action Images' managing director at .
