Photolibrary’s Monsoon relaunches site, hires new Creative Director

Photolibrary has rebranded and relaunched the web-site of Monsoon Images, the high-end, rights managed specialty web-site it acquired earlier this year.  At the same time, the company hired stock industry veteran Phyllis Giarnese to the post of Creative Director North America to manage and continue the development of the Monsoon archive.

Photolibrary's purchase of Monsoon marked the company's first strategic move into the important North American market.  The company also saw the value of Monsoon's ethereal style of rights managed photography, straddling the border between fine art and commercial material, and believed the archive did not have the market recognition it deserved.  The redesign of the brand and the web-site reflect the company's commitment to raising Monsoon's profile among clients and photographers.

To that same end, Photolibrary hired Ms. Giarnese, an experienced stock photo catalogue producer who worked at FPG for eight years (including a period under Getty after it acquired FPG and changed its brand name to Taxi) and stints as the Director of Content for Solus Images and Director of Photography at Wireimage.

Giarnese says of her appointment: "I couldn't be more excited to be a part of the evolution of this unique brand.  It will be especially rewarding to encourage many of these fine artists to consider shooting more commercial content with their particular style and to work this back into the vision for the overall group."
