StockPhotoFinder signs NewsCom; Launches unique search tool
The stock photo search and referral site, StockPhotoFinder.com, has announced a partnership with NewsCom who will supply StockPhotoFinder (SPF) with over 4MM images. This will more than double the number of images in SPF’s database bringing the total to over 7MM. Though NewsCom is known for its editorial and current events content, the deal includes all of the Jupiter Images Royalty Free imagery that NewsCom represents. NewsCom joins over 200 suppliers of images who have placed their products with SPF. The company does not take commissions on license fees for images found through its site, but simply charges the suppliers marketing fees based on the number of images they place with SPF.
Simultaneously, SPF has announced the beta launch of a new search technology call “SPFF Search” (as in “spiffy.”) The technology allows a researcher to simply enter strings of keywords into the search box stream-of-consciousness style. The search engine retrieves images for the first keyword and automatically refines the search based upon the following keywords without requiring the researcher to click “enter” with each new search term. According to Gary Elsner, SPF’s VP of Sales and Marketing, the SPFF Search technology “facilitates the creative process by allowing the researcher to think of new directions and follow through with them as he or she is searching.”
According to Elsner, earlier this month SPF reached over 1MM unique visits to its site since its inception in October of 2004. Users, who are not required to register, have created over 135,000 lightboxes on StockPhotoFinder.com.
