Getty Images begins joint distribution with Amana
In an effort to build up its offering of local contact for the Japanese market Getty Images has a made a deal with Amana to offer 50,0000 images from the Neovision, Sebun Photo and Amana brands to its customers in Japan and worldwide. In exchange Getty has agreed to provide Amana with the same amount of images from the Taxi, Photodisc and Digital Vision collections. "We are delighted to partner with Amana to bring our customers in Japan and worldwide a greater range of Japanese imagery," said Sean Mooney, Representative Director, Getty Images Japan. "We have listened to our customers' requests for imagery, and know that our partnership with Amana will help us better meet their needs."Getty Images has made it clear that it expects strong growth in Japan and other Asian markets and has recently launched a Japanese language site located at www.gettyimages.jp, and a Chinese language site at www.gettyimages.cn. Getty has also recognized the need to offer images that reflect the local marketplace and this deal with Amana provided Getty with a short-cut to offer a large selection of content that is relevant to creative needs in Japan.
The deal also helps Amana Images who has recently established a dominant position in Japan with the purchase of a key competitor Sekai Bunka Photo. "We are very honored to provide Amana images' brands to worldwide customers through Getty Images' distribution channels and we are also delighted to have Getty Images' collection to our http://www.amana.jp website," said Hironobu Shindo, CEO of Amana Group.
