Masterfile sets up European art department

Comments (0)

At the beginning of May, the Canadian picture agency Masterfile set up a separate art department responsible for the entire European market at its European headquarters in Düsseldorf. It has its own offices with its own budget and photographers and the aim is to look after the company’s European photographers and expand the European section of its picture collection.

The selection of imagery for the collections focuses on people and lifestyle. A number of new European photographers have been signed up since the beginning of the year and the first shoots of Beauty images have been held in a number of locations, including Rome, Düsseldorf and Zanzibar.

The art department is run by Dorothee Koppe, a qualified photographer and printing engineer who began her career in 1996 at the The Stock Market in New York and subsequently moved to Corbis when the company was taken over. She has been Art Director at Masterfile since November 2005 and is supported in her work by art directors Sandra Kottmann and Lars Richrath. Stefan Hartmann, VISUELL
