Fotolia is the new online marketplace for RF images
A new Royalty Free (RF) micro-payment site called Fotolia has launched offering
low-cost digital stock images and billing itself as the "social
marketplace for royalty-free stock images." The Fotolia business model
allows Photographers and designers to update Fotolia with thousands of new
photos and illustrations each day, while photographers and designers receive a
small commission from each photo sold and revenue from advertising on the free
section. Fotolia is translated into four languages (Spanish, French, German, and English) and is the latest entry into
the world of micro-payment websites targeted at semi-pro photographers and
designers. Fotolia is competing directly with Can Stock Photo, Dreamstime, iStockPhoto, and subscription service ShutterStock.
Special thanks to Steve Hall at Adrants for covering the launch of this
site.
